Bye, Cata.
I started playing WoW right before Wrath lauched, but I didn’t really get into the game until Cata launched. I was so excited to play a Worgen (of the Worgen I’ve rolled, only my bank alt survives). We went to the midnight launch, and I finally got to use my husband’s computer to play after he passed out after his race to sever first level 85 rogue.
Cata was a lot of firsts for me. I started playing, thinking I was going to be casual and just a social raider, and at this moment, I’m accidentally a Dragonslayer.
I played my first tank, my first character to 85. I played my first horde character to 85- my first caster! I played my first twink. It was a big expansion for me. I raided my first raid- and later, I led my first raid.
Deiter-
Deiter was my first character to 85. I have trouble sticking with things, so hitting 85 was a big accomplishment for me. She was the first character I ever tanked on, the first character I ever raided on.

let’s say my gear, to start, was less than optimal.
Waypoint has been a great guild to me. They took a completely green tank and let me really find my own. That’s an entirely separate post, but I don’t think I’d still be playing now if not for my guild. They’ve given me the opportunity to do so much.

okay, sometimes the stuff they let me do isn’t exactly…er. “smart”.
I still remember stepping into Blackwing Descent for the first time. I was so nervous! I only knew how to properly use half of my buttons! For the first few weeks, I would literally sit at my desk shaking for two hours because of barely-suppressed panic attacks. Somewhere along the way, I gained confidence.
Kirian-
Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows how dear a character this cranky elf was to me. I started him on a whim, and made a few new friends along the way to 85.
Somewhere between leveling my first mage, and writing a story for this cranky old elf, I found my art again. In high school, you couldn’t pry a sketchbook out of my hands, and somewhere along the way I had lost that. Things had happened- life had happened. Kirian may be no more- he’s a lady goblin named Deezi now, but he turned out to be the muse I didn’t know I was looking for. I’m thinking of going back to college now, and slowly pick away at art courses.

I also have some unfinished business in the Firelands.
Special thanks to Miri and Snack for helping me write him. I know he wasn’t always nice or cheerful, and I know I gave you some tags you probably didn’t know what to do with.
Dettah-
My locked level 70 rogue was a fun side project for me- more fun than I thought s/he would be. She started off as Davranth, the blood elf. Before WoW, I used to hate PvP. I rolled a rogue a few times, but only one managed to stick. It was fun! I was taking down rogues in full heirlooms. I was taking down rogues in full heirlooms played by people who had rogues at the endgame.

I never did manage to get my glaives, but maybe that will be something to look forward to in Mists. My account has something near 25k honorable kills on it- far more than I ever thought I would have. Not all of these come from Dettah- I now look forward to stepping into the Gulch as soon as I hit level 10 on a new character and ripping it up.
Still, there’s a special kind of joy in stunlocking someone or getting a shadowstepped ambush crit.
Deedle-
I saved this one for last, because she’s a proper way to close out this post.
Kirian was my first mage, and Deedle was the second mage I made when I realized how much I loved playing one. I’d never played a caster before- I was more for hunters or healers, melee DPS, never a mage.
Well, the plan now is to take this little elf and make her into a Pandaren. Deiter was my main through Catacylsm, and I plan to make Deedle my main for Mists. I promise I know how to play her, Waypoint!
With the shift from Blood Death Knight to Arcane Mage, I decided it was time for a blog rename. Welcome to Arcane Runes. I promise I will update about as frequently as I used to (once a year or so).
Less than 12 hours to go! See you in Mists!
